That’s the standard that, when DC Universe transitions to a comics-only service and goes international in 2021, it will adopt as DC Universe Infinite (itself down from Universe’s current 12-month cycle). Unlimited has always been a pretty great comics subscription prospect - despite the fact that, beyond access to Marvel Comics’ back catalogue, readers had to wait six months before current books on store shelves would rotate into Unlimited’s library. But Marvel, already a pretty strong supporter with its Unlimited sub, just made it even better. So consider all this benefit when you decide you really want to impulsively and immediately finish the TMNT story and it costs you $3.59 when the print copy cover price was originally $8.99 but you're not gonna find it anywhere without paying the collector premium.As the digital comics marketplace has become a bigger and bigger part of the way we all read our favourite books, publishers have been working to make accessing the latest print releases through digital subscriptions easier than ever. Some things you'll hate and you won't get through the first 10 pages and guess what, it didn't cost you anything, while there are hidden gems for you to discover new writers or artists or genres. Add in the benefit that you now have access to titles that you might have been interested in but not enough to purchase and now you can explore those options with no additional cost to you. The subscription pays for it self with reading just half a normal trade paperback. The TMNT volumes you posted are actually priced very low as it is below a normal monthly single issue price, but for the most part a 5-6 issue trade paperback will cost $12-$15. Look at it this way, the unlimited subscription costs $6 USD per month and with that you get to read as much of the unlimited menu as you want and on top of that you get 10-15% discount on purchases. Rather than feeding into the negative press and worry about swindles that don't exist, I prefer to look at the known benefits. There might be trade offs with other options such as waiting or paying full retail print copy price, but the choice is still yours.
Believe it or not, you have complete freedom to find the book elsewhere (like a public library for free or even a local comic shop) or not even bother to finish. There's no obligation for you to purchase the final volume from amazon or anyone else for that matter. You choose to pay the monthly fee and you get to choose to read from what's available. There's no surprises or denial of service here.
